WhatsApp now lets users edit sent messages

As of Monday, users of WhatsApp will be able to edit messages that have already been delivered, according to a Facebook post by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Within 15 minutes of sending the message, users have the option of changing their text. In the next weeks, everyone will have access to the upgrade, which has begun rolling out globally.

On Monday, Mark Zuckerberg made the new function official.
In the past, users had the option between deleting a message and sending a correction in a different message. Last year, the time frame for deleting a message was extended from 48 to 60 hours.

“For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp. From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats,” the messaging app said in a statement.

After hitting “send,” you can alter your text by holding down the message for a long time and choosing the “edit” option from the dropdown menu. The word “edited” will appear next to the updated statement. The app will not, however, display edit history.

Editing texts is already an option in rival applications for WhatsApp like Telegram and Signal. Recently, the Twitter platform owned by Elon Musk permitted some users to edit tweets.
