We Will Always Remember You: Cavendish University to stage a memorial lecture for H.E Benjamin Mkapa.

Cavendish University Uganda has put into consideration a memorial lecture for the former chancellor and  president of  the republic of Tanzania now the late H.E Benjamin Mkapa on 30th of November at Serena hotel in kampala.

To host the Minister for the East African Affairs Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaaga as the Chief guest and special guest as Anna Mkapa the late’s widow.

H.E Mkapa succeeded Kenneth Kahunde the former president of the republic of Zambia as the University Chancellor on 5th of December 2014, an occasion that was presided over by Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera the then Chancellor of Makerere University. 

He however gave service to the University as the Chancellor for six years until his death on the 24th of July 2020. 

It is estimated that Mkapa presided over 6,000 graduates totaling to 80% as a University chancellor since inception.

Note:  “A memorial is a structure built in order to remind people of a famous person or event especially in honour and it continues to exist.”
