WAAW Foundation Scholarships for African women to study undergraduate courses

Working to Advance STEM Education for African Women (WAAW) is offering a number of scholarships to African women enrolled in bachelors courses in science, technology, engineering and math.

Their mission is to increase the participation of African girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related disciplines, and to ensure that this talent is engaged in African innovation.

WAAW Foundation is a US-based non-profit organization founded in 2007.

These scholarships award US $500 (approx 1.3M UGX) per year to successful applicants for the duration of their course.

Eligibility Criteria for the scholarships

WAAW foundation’s annual scholarship initiative aims at supporting need based African female STEM-focused college education.

Please read the eligibility criteria before you apply. All non qualifying applications will be automatically deleted! Criteria for eligibility includes:

(a) Female students of African origin, living and studying in Africa.
(b) Currently enrolled in undergraduate B.S.degree program.
(c) Studying STEM related courses in a University or college in Africa.
(d) Demonstrable financial need, and
(e) Excellent Academic Record.
(f) Below the age of 32 years.
(g) Graduation date is after December of award year

Applications are to be submitted electronically, and have been open since 1st of August, 2014. The deadline for applications is 31st October, 2014.
