Valencia move up to fourth in La Liga

Valencia kept alive their hopes of Champions League qualification with a comfortable 4-0 win over relegation-threatened Granada.

Javi Fuego’s and Fani Parejo’s penalty gave the host afirst half lead with Sofiane Feghouli and Alvaro Negredo ensured all the three points for Valencia.

The win meant Valencia moved to fourth place in the La Liga standing table two points clear of Sevilla whom they are battling for Champions League play-offs next season.

Europa League holders Sevilla will travel to Eibar on Wednesday hoping to win their game and leapfrog fourth placed Valencia who plays Rayo Vallencano a day later.

Valencia have 68 points with five games left, two ahead of Sevilla and four behind third-placed champions Atletico Madrid who won 3-0 at home to Elche on Saturday.

Granada is second to last, six points from safety and will have to ensure they win games to harbor hope of staying in the La Liga next season.

Meanwhile  table leaders Barcelona  take on  13th placed Getafe  at Camp Nou tonight as they are aim to increase their gap to 5 points to second placed Real Madrid who play Almeria 24 hours later.
