UTODA buses hit Kampala streets

Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) has cleared UTODA AWAKULA ENNUME to run a bus service in the city.

KCCA said that Utoda’s 200 buses would operate on designated routes in the city.

The 12-months contract agreed on between the two parties include a monthly revenue of Shs300,000 per bus and maintaining bus fares of the card at the initial rate of 1000 and 1200 for a single route ticket.

KCCA  said a maximum of 25 buses shall operate along the routes of Gayaza road via Kalerwe-Binaisa Road-Haji Musa Kasula Rd-Wandegeya-Bombo Rd-City Square-Jinja Rd-Wampewo Round about and back along the same route.

The new buses have a passenger capacity of 60 passengers.  The organization says it intends to provide cheap and safe transportation in Kampala.

UTODA buses have come at a time after Pioneer Easy Bus Company failing to pay taxes to Uganda revenue authority.
