The Academic Staff at Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) have been hosted to a Refresher Seminar aimed at facilitating lecturers with Learner-centered-teaching guidelines and the best practices.
The seminar, according to the Director of Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rehema Baguma was intended for all Lecturers teaching at both Undergraduate and Post Graduate levels.
“We have been organizing such seminars for our Staff and the idea is to share the best teaching practices using various methodologies including ICTs and innovative teaching tools”, she highlighted. Baguma noted that this is UTAMU’s initiative geared towards producing Innovative and Creative Graduates armed with skills to solve the current problems.
“We want to inspire and motivate our students to think rationally, be knowledgeable and self-sufficient and this can only be done through regularly reviewing our teaching processes to ensure they generate interest among learners, impart knowledge, skills and inculcate values. This will ultimately build human capital that will steer technological innovation and economic growth” she added.
The event was held at UTAMU Resource Centre, in Kiswa , Bugolobi on Wednesday 17th September 2014.
