UNSA Elections: Matanda Abubaker, IUIU Guild President vows to revolutionize UNSA

Matanda Abubaker, Guild President of Islamic University in Uganda

As the race for the elections of Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA) draws closer, the battle for UNSA presidency has attracted many.

Matanda Abubaker dubbed the “The Hope of Students” has vowed to cause a fundamental change in UNSA.

Matanda revealed this in a meeting of Guild Presidents from the Eastern Region (Uganda) held at the Pentecostal Theological Institute in Mbale on 23rd January 2014.

Over 14 Guild Presidents from different institution such as Busitema university, UCU Mbale campus, Uganda Martyrs Mbale, UCC Tororo, and Soroti, Mbale School Of Clinical Officers, Mbale School of Hygiene, UTC Elgon, Kumi University among others agreed to field only one candidate from that region for UNSA Presidency

“Many students despite paying subscription too UNSA have even never heard about it because it no longer engages them in its activities, and has been confined to a few individuals in some regions”, Matanda says.

He adds, “My brand brings participatory, inspirational, and revolutionary leadership.

“We are tired of puppetry, and the moment is now!” fumed Matanda who is confident that his time to become UNSA President is ready.

Uganda National Students Association annual council meeting is slated for Monday, 27th-31st Jan 2014 at St. Augustine University in Kansanga, Kampala.

Delegates to this council meeting include 3 delegates from the District Executive councils,  3 from universities, and tertiary institutions.

Matanda Aubaker, Guild  President of Islamic University in Uganda,  Wabwile Emmanuel, a former Guild president at Uganda Christian University, Mukono, Mugabe Samson from Bishop Stuart University, Kunya Allan from Kyambogo University are some of those interested in becoming the next UNSA President.

The current UNSA president is Kaihura S. Felix, a former Guild president of Nkumba University.
