University fresh graduates can apply for Trainee jobs at Joint Medical Store

About JMS:

Joint Medical Store (JMS) is a Church founded private Not-For-Profit organization whose mission is to supply medicines, medical equipment and related healthcare services, and training of assured quality to the people of Uganda at affordable prices.

Job Summary: JMS runs a twelve months Graduate Trainees Programme that is aimed at providing opportunity to people who have successfully completed a diploma programme of study in selected fields of study. The programme is aimed at exposing the fresh graduates to work environment, allow them opportunity to develop their general knowledge, skills and positive attitude towards work, and stimulate them to deeply reflect on their career ambitions.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to participate in the next twelve months’ Graduate Trainees programme for the period 2015/16. This is not a full time employment opportunity so contracts for successful candidates will automatically expire at the end of the twelve months’ programme. Graduate Trainees will be paid a modest monthly stipend for upkeep which they will have to supplement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  All participants on this programme will be assigned to perform various warehouse tasks including:

  • Offloading incoming consignment in an orderly manner, and moving them to assigned storage locations.
  • In charge of moving materials within the warehouse as directed, using the lifting equipment provided.
  • Assembling customers’ orders and physically loading then on delivery trucks for distribution to relevant destinations
  • Carry out warehouse housekeeping activities assigned by the relevant supervisors.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicants for the Graduate Trainee Programmes should preferably hold diplomas in Stores Management or related field. Additional qualifications in Pharmacy, Registered Nurse, and Biomedical Equipment Technology will be an added advantage.
  • Have a good record of academic achievement demonstrated by excellent grades at Ordinary and Advanced Level School Certificate, and at Diploma Level.
  • Have completed studies not more than 30 months ago from the date of the advertisement.
  • Be ready to be available on a full time basis for twelve months.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and reliable.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines, manage time, and pay great attention to detail.
  • Be a good team player: able to work with others, and positively cope with feedback:
  • Be creative and resourceful: able to quickly grasp the vision, mission and values of JMS, and contribute to their attainment, have passion for knowledge sharing and problem solving.
