Pepsi University Football League 2023 Season Launched.

The 11th edition of the University Football League has been officially launched at a press briefing held at Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo as the 2023 has been graced with an increase of two teams.

Nauru based side ISBAT University are just making their debut appearance in the University Football League whereas Kampala International University are making a return in the 2023 season to total an increased number of 24 Universities taking part.

All the 24 Universities have been drawn into six groups which will have top two team qualifying to the knockout round and joined by the best two second placed teams.

According to the AUUS president Penninah Kabenge, She has extended her regards to tye sponsors who have pushed the University Football League till the 11th edition and still going with alot of works to do spearhead by Red Rhino.

“It’s a pleasure that we are moving on to the 11th season and we are delighted for the growth we have gained as I welcome ISBAT University and Kampala International University (KIU), I thank our sponsors for supporting University Football League which has seen us reach this milestone as we are in our 11th season.” Said Penninah Kabenge.

KIU has returned to the league this season.

This year’s group stages have been seeded accordingly as the upcountry teams put in one pot to avoid the long distances which affected them last season.

The Upcountry teams seeded in this year’s University Football League are Kabale University, Islamic University In Uganda(Mbale), Muni University (Arua), Kumi University, Gulu University and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Champions UMU have been pitted in group A while first time participants ISBAT will compete in group F
