Universities ready for the 27th World University Games

All may be well with NUSUF after they managed to identify the Athletes, who will be representing the Country in the World University Games in Kazan Russia.

The 27th World University Games will be held from 6th to 17th July, 2013.
13000 athletes will come together in Kazan, Russia to compete for 351 medals.

It’s believed that 160 countries will compete in the 27 sports disciplines.
Uganda will be represented by 6 women and 14 men athletes drawn from 6 Universities in and out side Uganda namely Ndejje, UCU Mukono, Kyambogo, Makerere, Kampala and Middle Tennessee from USA.

NUSFU will fully cater for 4 members of the team.

Athletes from NKUMBA, MUBS, MUST and GULU have been officially dropped because their Institutions could not commit funds for this event, six atheletes and 2 officials have also been affected.

The Athletics team is being handled by Mr. Faustino Kiwa and has been training at Makerere and Namboole.

The Uganda Team participants include Winnie Nanyondo, Benjamin Njia, Richard Ongom, Daniel Bingi, Herbert Gidagui, Samuel Noah Mwidu, Ali Hassan Kato, Shinosuke Wasswa, Emmanuel Tugumisirize, Geoffrey Akena, Annet Chebet, Docus Ajok, Johnson Anywar, Steven Komaketch, Janneth Acan, Ivan Wesonga, Allan Makweta, Eric Wanume, Victoria Nakirwadde, Joyce Kabengano.
Officials include Cyriaco Kabagambe, Brian Miiro Nsubuga, Patrick Ssebuliba, Faustino Kiwa, Daudi Ssana William Chumek and Paul Kayongo.

Philimon Badagawa is a multimedia journalist with skills in news gathering, packaging, editing and online publishing. He has knowledge in data visualization, can design and manage websites. He previously worked as a journalist with Observer media and authored several articles and stories. He does research, video & audio recording, editing and production for online publication. He Participated in The New Dawn photography campaign aimed at rebranding Northern Uganda-USAID/NUTI Project (2010). Philimon is in love with photography, writing, reading, sharing new ideas and interacting with reasonable people for skills development.
