Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) has opened a Mini-Exhibition titled ‘Church and State: Photographs in the Footsteps of Uganda Martyrs’. The Mini-Exhibition, which took place on the 26th of May 2023 at the Lubaga Campus, was officially opened by Hon. Nobert Mao, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and an Alumnus of UMU.
He applauded UMU on launching such a project that will assist in giving voice to the voiceless.
“We need to accept that we need to have some difficult conversations so that we can move forward well as a Country. I appreciate UMU for preparing grounds for this,”
Mao
“Therefore, it is our duty as we launch the UMUAt30Exhibits to broaden the grounds for dialogue, taking our past into consideration and aiming to do better than those who came before us.” Hon Mao noted.
Owek. Wagwa Nsibirwa, the Deputy Katikkiro of Buganda, reminded the public that the issues that countries confront today are the product of politicians that focus on dividing the masses rather than uniting them. As a result, he urged fellow leaders to always prioritize assisting people and meaningful tasks.
Prof. Patrick Edrin Kyamanywa, Vice Chancellor of UMU, explained that this Mini-Exhibition was intended to recast the co-existence and interplay between the Church and state in the development of our country as part of the activities commemorating UMU’s 30th Anniversary, which will be officially held on October 18, 2023, at the Main Campus Nkozi.
