Doug and Kathy Ford of the Ford family together with staff of Notre Dame and the Kellogg Institute at Uganda Martyrs University

The Institutes’s Ford Family Program in Human Development studies and Solidarity is carrying out several projects at Nnindye Parish in Mpigi district with its local partners at Uganda Martyrs University (UMU).

Doug and Kathy Ford of the Ford family together with staff of Notre Dame and the Kellogg Institute visited UMU on Monday July 21st 2014.

The community-led development projects have been on-going since 2008.

The UMU team shared their experience and findings with the different projects in what was a well prepared presentation. The visitors also had a thrilling tour of the various projects at Nnindye Parish.

They were marveled by a neatly organized local saving scheme, an individual poultry project and the ECOSAN toilet project.

The group has also equipped the Nnindye local health center with cell phone messaging software and low-power computers and trained the local health team members through an $85,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation.
