The letter, addressed through the National Secretariat for Patriotism Clubs requested the president’s presence at the retreat at National Leadership Institute (NALI) Kyankwanzi.
However, Amanya did not “kowtow” with the idea of attending a patriotic gathering with people who hold completely different political ideologies especially members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“I received an invitation letter from Office of President Museveni to the Kyankwanzi retreat which I declined. No incentive in being apart of a group that has no explanation for the abuse of fundamental human rights and the politicised misuse of the power of patriotism!” Amanya tweeted.
