Uganda Christian University signs MoU with Uganda Manufactures Association

Uganda Christian University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uganda Manufactures Association (UMA). The memorandum is to help in engaging local private sectors in finding solutions to the unemployed youth.

Following the increasing unemployment among the youth, Uganda Manufacturers Association in partnership with Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) is running a youth program with the objectives of raising awareness of the unique roles of the private sector, universities and the government in solving the unemployment challenges facing Uganda, and developing democratic values and entrepreneurial skills among Ugandan youth.

Mr. Joseph Kyalimpa, the Executive director UMA, while addressing student who turned up to witness the signing of this memorandum, said that the two parties – UCU and UMA, will share a goal of reducing youth unemployment by promoting entrepreneurship in the University through creation of entrepreneurship clubs.

Rev. Canon Dr. John Senyonyi, the Vice Chancellor Uganda Christian University in his speech, congratulated the Business Faculty for championing such initiative which will help Uganda Christian University graduates not to roam on streets looking for jobs but instead to create jobs. He further encouraged students to work hard towards being members of the entrepreneurship club so as to enhance on their knowledge.

This Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Vice Chancellor on behalf of Uganda Christian University and Mr. Kyalimpa Joseph on behalf of Uganda Manufacturers Association. Other personalities that witnessed the signing were, Mr. David Mugawe, the Deputy Vice Chancellor External Relations at UCU and Mr. Cyprian Mugisa Programmes officer at UMA.
