Uganda Christian University (UCU) has a new accreditation for its Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); a global accounting body of accountants and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
Rev. Canon Dr. John Senyonyi, the Vice Chancellor thanked ACCA for choosing to partner with UCU.
“ACCA is a global brand, so endorsing our program is a huge asset,” the UCU Vice Chancellor said. This new collaboration further promotes us as the university, including our individual lecturers who will be teaching in those course unites”.
Dr. Godwin Awio, the Head of Department Business & Finance said that ACCA has already accredited UCU’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), accounting option.
“ACCA is a global brand, we want to be in the same field. We have been exempted six papers, our students who are doing BBA Accounting option will start from the 7th paper,” Dr. Awio said.
Ms. Beatrice Isagayite, the country Head of ACCA Uganda, applauded UCU for a good partnership and also sending quality graduates to them.
“UCU is the third largest source of students that do ACCA in Uganda”, she said, adding, “We have to partner with UCU for more support because working together will help both of us”.
According to Beatrice, “learning done at UCU is recognized at ACCA and this is helping us to work together promote the teachings at both UCU and ACCA”
ACCA offers is a professional course for people who are in accounting and Finance along with others. As an open access course, those without accounting and finance education can enroll as long as they meet minimum requirements.
