UCU replaces Arts in Mass communication with Journalism and Media studies

Uganda Christian University has resolved to rename its current Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication as Bachelor of journalism and Media studies.

This follows the establishment of the faculty of journalism, Media and Communication at the university with a new department of journalism and media studies Department which is to be led by Dr.Emily Comfort Maractho.

Another department named the communication department is to be which is to be headed by Dr. Angella Napakol.

According to the Vice Chancellor,  Rev.Can.Dr. John Senyonyi, the faculty was launched on 6th July, 2018 by the University council and commended the faculty members for their limitless efforts.

The university received a grant from the Norwegian Programme for capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) which enabled it to train five people on PhD level at KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

In addition, the funds also aided the establishment of Masters in Journalism, Media and Communication which will be revised for effective work output.

The MA programme and other short courses will also be provided at UCU kampala campus on Lubiri Ring Road starting with the next August intake.
