The President of Rotary International Has Arrived In Uganda

The president of Rotary Dr. Jennifer Jones, has arrived in Uganda for a nine-day visit.

During the visit, she will engage in different activities aimed at assessing the impact of work done by Rotarians in the country.

This is the eighth country Jones, who is the first woman president of the 117-year-old charity organisation, is visiting under her tour code-named Imagine Impact Tour.

She jetted in at 9:00am at Entebbe International Airport, received by district governors Mike Sebalu and Peace Taremwa, who head District 9213 (Uganda) and District 9214 (part of Uganda and Tanzania), respectively.

From Wednesday, August 31 to September 8, Jones will visit and tour various projects implemented by Rotarians in Uganda.

These include Mengo Hospital Rotary Blood Bank, Rotary Centenary Bank Cancer Ward at NSAMBYA Hospital, and The Rotary Peace Centre at Makerere University.

“I am very honoured to be here and being warmly welcomed. Uganda is one of the fastest growing areas, and it is a privilege to be able to learn from different projects such as the Peace Centre, especially at a time the world is faced with numerous conflicts,” Jones told the media upon arrival.

“This impact tour is also about telling our stories to the external audiences, many of whom may be interested in joining. Rotary is about leaders and change-makers in society,” she said.
