These scholarships are awarded annually to some of the most talented engineering students who have consistently had outstanding academic records.
The basic criteria which students need to comply with include meeting the minimum academic standards of a SAT score of 600 in math and 500 in reading or composition (or an ACT score of 29 in math and 25 in English) and a 3.0 grade point average on the four-point scale.
The deadline for applications is January 15, 2015.
Additionally, only Ohio residents and US citizens can apply for these scholarships.
Students also need to be high school seniors who are pursuing an engineering program that is approved by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) at an Ohio engineering college or Notre Dame.
The various programs and scholarships awarded by the EFO are done with an objective to increase awareness and interest amongst students to pursue disciplines like science, engineering and math.
“These scholarships will hopefully encourage out local talented pool of outstanding and talented future professionals to remain in the state and contribute to the growth and advancement here. We have always tried to encourage the spirit of excellence and achievement amongst budding engineering talent,” said a spokesperson from the organization.
Established in 1964, the EFO is a nonprofit charitable organization founded by members of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE).
