Ten man MUST hold Uganda Martyrs university

University Football League Result: MUST 2-2 UMU.

Mbarara University of Science and Technology football club(MUST), rallied from a goal down and ten men to hold bottom side Uganda Martyrs University(UMU) 2-2, in a pulsating encounter played this evening at MUST’s home ground in Mbarara.

Hit man Musinde Siraj had put the hosts ahead in the 21st minute, and MUST eased into the first half break with some bit of remorse that followed even pressure from the visitors.

However, a moment of crazy inter-surpassed with the passing beauty of the ball as well as counters attacks, was unleashed in the second half.

Both sides were equally good but tension was rising on the hosts’ side, and in the 56th minute, a panicky Hannington Niwamanya handled from outside the box, following a defensive lapse and tackles, prompting the referee to issue him a straight red card. From the resulting free kick, Nsubuga Henry put the visitors level.

With a one man advantage UMU mounted more pressure and an interchange of passes saw, Lotyang Nobert put them ahead within three minutes of their equaliser, when he curled a superb shot past substitute goalie Lusiba Phillip. Minutes later Lotyang could have stretched the lead for UMU, but his strike went past the near post.

At this time, ten men MUST were finding their confidence, and it was not long before an interplay of exchanges between Siraj Musindo and Musanje Robert, got the hosts level. Musindo dribbled through a shaky UMU defense, to curl past the goal keeper and make it 2-2 on 78 minutes.

Musindo has now scored five times against UMU, in both legs combined, including his hatrick in their 4-0 win in the first leg at UMU. The brace also takes the 24 year old striker’s goal tally to 13 in the league, making him still top scorer.

But the result only rooted his side second bottom of the log on five points. UMU are still bottom having only fetched their second point of the season.
