Swinburne Welcome Scholarships are now available for all new Australian and International students. All Welcome Scholarships comprise a full fee waiver.
The Swinburne University of Technology is an Australian public university based in Melbourne, Victoria. Its main campus is located in Hawthorn, a suburb of Melbourne which is located 7.5 km from the Melbourne central business district.

Scholarship Description:
- Application Deadline: January 19, 2018
- Course Level: Scholarship is available to access Undergraduate, Certificate, Foundation/Unilink and Diploma/Advanced Diploma courses at Swinburne University.
- Study Subject: Eligible courses:
- Selected Certificate I-IV courses
- Four places in a Foundation/UniLink course
- Four places in a Diploma/Advanced Diploma course
- Two places in an undergraduate course offered through the Faculty of Business & Law
- Two places in an undergraduate course offered through the Faculty of Health, Arts & Design
- Two places in an undergraduate course offered through the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology.
- Scholarship Award: All Welcome Scholarships comprise a full fee waiver. If the course is longer than 12 months and you hold a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) or a Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) and lose your Special Benefit as a direct result of this enrolment at Swinburne, you may be eligible for $7,500 per annum for the normal duration of your course. Part-time students would receive this sum on a pro-rata basis.

Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must:
- Be a holder of either a Bridging Visa ‘E’ (V050), a Temporary Protection Visa (V785) or a Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (V790)
- Have submitted a course application through VTAC or directly to Swinburne
- have submitted a scholarship application
- Be a commencing full-time student in the year the scholarship is awarded.Part-time enrolment will be considered under special circumstances
- Provide evidence of financial hardship (documents such as a bank statement, salary slips, Centrelink statement)
- Submit a personal statement (300 words) on your involvement in the community, and how you intend to contribute to your community and society in the future. This might include any volunteer work, and any demonstration of leadership potential you have accomplished in any setting including:
- School
- Community
- Any member group of the Refugee Council of Australia
- Church
- Youth groups
- Sporting clubs etc.
