In what could be seen as an act of defiance, SC Villa have announced of how they will only play the 18 minutes of their abandoned Uganda Cup final against KCC.
SC Villa Chairman; Ben Misagga announced the decision while addressing fans on Thursday at the team’s training ground in Kampala.
“If we are to play it by courtesy doesn’t rules,’’ he said
‘’Last season a Uganda Cup tie between Hope Soana and Express didn’t end because of violence last, and the replay saw only the remaining minutes played. We played against Express twice in the league and because of violence from Express we earned six points,”
“What’s makes this Uganda cup final special, when it was clear that KCC fans walked onto the field to stop play,” said Misagga
FUFA had called for the replay of the Uganda Cup Final that was abandoned on 30th May at Kyamate grounds in Ntugangamo District and set June 16th as the date of the replay.
SC Villa was leading 1-0 with 20 minutes to end the game through Erisa Sekissambu’s penalty kick. Moments later, KCC midfielder Hakim Ssekumba was red-carded for a foul on Abdul Karim Kasule. This led to the invasion of the pitch by the KCC fans citing unfair refereeing decisions from Robert Donney.
We wait for more from FUFA as the scramble for Uganda final replay between SC Villa and KCC still goes on.
