Music can help one to not only making meaning of their surrounding but also try to explain certain situations. In this particular context, music falls into place; Music is a collection of coordinated sound or sounds. They say music is a universal language. And, you know, they’re probably right, I mean who among us does not have a similar story about a song that touched them?
Whether attending a concert, listening to the radio, or singing in the shower, there’s something about music that can fill us with emotion, from joy to sadness. Music has been a source of entertainment, motivation, and mood buster since historical times. Almost every human culture has a tradition of making music. Examples of early instruments like flutes and drums have been found dating back thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians used music in religious ceremonies.
Today our main focus will be getting to know what kind of music some people listen to and why because there are a vast majority of genres of music that people try to affiliate to and in most cases many people will wonder why one listens to a specific song and this story will attempt to give answers to that question. Through a series of interviews with some students of Uganda Martyrs University, they tell us what their favorite songs are and why they have to choose that particular song over the others in existence.

Where as you cannot tell a person which type of music to listen to, one can however advise them on what message to pick from a song and which kind of music one can benefit from. Sister Denis Samanya who heads the Institute of Languages and Communication studies has advice that she would like to share to students of the university in regards to music.

To many, music is a livelihood, to some its a remedy, to others it is a story teller, it provides a comfort zone for them when their are in a troubled zone, but despite the reasons we have for listening to music, we all can agree that it has been a very large influence and a big factor in terms of entertainment, physical health and mental health to at least every human being around the world.
