Six Students from three Universities win Smartphones to Encourage Multimedia Practice

Six University students received Smart Phones and tripod stands to encourage them to produce multimedia stories.

The students were winners of the US Mission Uganda supported Multimedia Journalism and Digital Safety that was conducted in three Universities. These were; Makerere University, Kampala International University and Cavendish University.

In all, close to 100 students were skilled in using digital tools to gather and analyse stories. Among the topics included, Videography, Sound recording and editing, Infographics and digital safety.

Twenty(20) Participants in each University were selected and facilitated to develop a multimedia story. The best two stories were awarded with smartphones and tripod stands.

Winning stories

From Makerere University, Elvis Lubanga and Taaka Conslata  won the best multimedia story award. At Kampala International and Cavendish University,  Faiza Salima and Akuguzibwe Isaac and  Patricia Tumuhairwe and Tonny Mboijana respectively won the award.

Six other students were awarded with solar energy power banks as a reward for their role as social media influencers on the harshtag #MyMultiMediaStoryTelling that trended for two days.

The training was facilitated by a team from Ultimate Multimedia Consult, one of the leading active digital communication company serving news, information and knowledge needs of Ugandans, East African, Africans and those interested in Africa.

Participants were also hosted at the American centre where they received a lecture from America’s reknown political journalsit David Mark.
