A female SGA security guard attached to Kagadi Stanbic Bank in Kagadi district has been shot dead.
Moses Kiconco Muzima, the Kagadi District Police Commander has identified the deceased as Babra Kiiza, 28, attached to SGA Security.
Kiiza, who was born in Kiryambe village in Bugambe sub-county, Kikuube district, was allegedly shot by a colleague, also her workmate, over a misunderstanding.
Muzima said the suspect, Dickens Agok, 27, also attached to the same security company, allegedly shot dead his workmate in the chest with one bullet using an AK-47 rifle at the Stanbic Bank entrance on Sunday (July 17) night after a misunderstanding.
He said the suspect is currently detained at Kagadi Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.
“The cause of the horrifying incident is still scanty. We have arrested the suspect, the gun used was recovered from the scene and cartridges. He is yet to tell us what caused him to shoot his colleague,’’ Muzima said.
He condemned acts of taking the law into one’s hands and appealed to people to tame their tempers.
Andrew Tugume, a bodaboda cyclist in Kagadi town who witnessed the incident, said he saw the two security guards quarrelling and after a short while, he heard a gunshot, followed by the voice of a woman screaming for help, before she died.
Beatrice Nantongo said Kiiza, her tenant, left home after washing her clothes and having lunch at around 1:00pm on Sunday and was surprised to hear that she had been shot dead.
“It is one year since she rented my rooms and I had never seen any man entering her house, I’m confused about what could have caused her death. She has been cooperative with neighbours,’’ she said.
