The Government is planning to let university students from South Sudan studying in Ugandan to pay the same amount of tuition fees like their Ugandan counterparts.
The proposal was tabled by the government of South Sudan through the Minister in charge of science and technology, Bol Makueng Youl.
John Chrysostom Muyingo, the State minister for higher education in Uganda says following the instability in South Sudan, students can hardly afford to pay the high tuition fees charged by the universities on international students.
He say that if the matter is approved by the Cabinet, South Sudan students will not pay tuition fees in dollars and will equally benefit from Uganda’s higher education.
Muyingo adds that South Sudan government is also seeking for scholarships for their students.
