The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is one of the 15 Institutes of the CGIAR global research partnerships with headquarters in Ibadan Nigeria. IITA is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Trustees and has a permanent office in Uganda. IITA focused primarily on improving cassava and banana-based systems in the nineties. The research focus over the past 5-10 years has expanded to include research on: climate change, trade-off analysis for smallholder livelihoods, Innovation systems and impact pathways, and Institutional and policy dimensions from local to national level.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collection of data from field, screenhouse and lab experiments.
- Uploading of data using digital platforms.
- Assisting of other breeding operations in the field, screenhouses, and lab as directed by the supervisor.
- Routine maintenance of screenhouse and on station experimental sites.
- Work closely with students.
- Supervision and coordination of screenhouse and field casual labour.
- Assist the data collection manager in germplasm management.
- Writing reports.
- Any other official duty as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural studies.
- At least four years of experience in scientific data collection. Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience in handling Lab consumables and supplies.
- Experience in working with not-for-profit Organizations.
- Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills in English, both written and oral. Computer proficiency including MS Office (Word/ PowerPoint, excel).
- Ability to complete multiple tasks under pressure and work in a multi-cultural team environment
- Ability to work in multiethnicity environment.
