JOB DETAILS:
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire a suitable candidate with working knowledge in both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods for the position of RESEARCH OFFICER. This position will be based in Kampala with frequent travel to the field sites. .
Duties and Responsibilities
• Carrying out quantitative data analysis of existing secondary data sets and primary quantitative data.
• Carry out process tracking of Global Fund and GAVI streams of funding at national and sub-national levels by:
• Participant observation at meetings.
• Key informant interviews
• Actively participate in development of data collection tools, and data collection activities tracking processes pertaining to the implementation of Global Fund and GAVI streams of funding in Uganda at national and sub-national levels.
• Synthesize and analyze data across data sources and in accordance to milestone tables and theories of change.
• Produce high quality and varied research outputs for a range of audiences including analysis, report writing and presentations where necessary.
• Participate in dissemination meetings for Global Fund PCE and GAVI findings to all stakeholders

Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
• A Bachelor’s degree in any of these fields: Monitoring & Evaluation, Project
• Management, Public Health, Social Work & Social Administration, Development Studies.
• Master’s Degree in Public Health or a related field is a MUST
• Competent in quantitative data analysis – Priority
• Experience in data management; i.e. preparation of data sets for analysis
• Knowledge and past exposure is basic coding of quantitative data using R software including cleaning of data sets, descriptive analysis and creating simple visuals
• Competent in Qualitative data analysis – Desirable
• Knowledge and experience in conducting qualitative data
• Past exposure in transcription, coding and analysis of data using any qualitative software will be an added advantage
• Ability to participate in synthesis and deductive analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data.
• Good knowledge of health systems especially HIV/TB, Malaria and immunization programs in Uganda
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under stringent deadlines and to work independently
