Job Title: Project Manager- European Union (EU) Energy Project

Job Summary: The EU Project Manager will provide leadership, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of scaling up rural electrification using innovative solar photovoltaic distribution models in line with the WWF UCO and EU objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor the implementation of annual project work plans and budgets in line with WWF UCO objectives, project priorities and EU donor requirements.
- Offer technical guidance and support during project design, drafting work plans and report writing with key strategic partners/stakeholders to enhance their participation in project activities in line with WWF guidelines.
- Develop and monitor the implementation of a system for identifying, recruitment and management of project partners and targeted beneficiaries in line with the in line with WWF guidelines and project priorities.
- Monitor the integration and support replication of innovative solar photovoltaic distribution models at national level in line with the WWF UCO objectives.
- Offer technical assistance during project evaluation (baselines, mid-term, and end of year evaluations) in liaison with the M&E Specialist in line with the WWF UCO M&E guidelines
- Keenly monitor the implementation of the project monitoring & evaluation (M&E) framework for tracking progress and impact of projects objectives in line with the agreed upon performance indicators and M&E guidelines.
- Responsible for developing, appraising, supporting and maintaining a competent & motivated ¡§project team through giving constructive feedback, coaching and mentoring, in line with the WWF human resources guidelines.
- Compile and prepare annual and quarterly project reports, document and share project best practices and experiences to inform policy mechanisms and periodically advise management, key stakeholders in line with WWF and donor requirements.
- Initiate, and monitor the implementation of capacity building interventions for scaling ¡Vup rural electrification in liaison with key regional, national and local stakeholders in line with the WWF standards and guidelines
- Monitor the project budget performance against approved activities including co-financing to the EU grant in liaison with the project accountant and advise the Finance Manager, Program Coordinator and donors in line with WWF UCO guidelines.
- Actively coordinate capacity gap analyses and training needs assessment of project partners and targeted groups line with WWF UCO and project guidelines.
- Coordinate the implementation of advocacy and lobbying activities through awareness-raising and sensitization meetings at local and national levels with key partners line with WWF UCO guidelines.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the aforementioned job opportunity should possess a postgraduate degree qualification with a Bachelor’s degree (honours) in Engineering or related field.
- Five to seven years cumulative working experience in renewable energy technologies with focus on solar PV related projects
- Past exposure and experience in civil society organizational capacity development, communication, networking, lobbying and advocacy for natural resources management is a must;
- Prior experience in project management and implementation, experience in monitoring and evaluation of project activities
- Good knowledge and understanding of key energy issues in Africa;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-interest, multi-ethnic environment;
- Demonstrated experience in mentorship and capacity building.
- Past exposure and experience in procurement of renewable energy equipment
- Significant experience in engaging rural communities in developing new skills and adopting new ideas.
- Possess the ability to build strategic relationships, identify opportunities and take necessary action
- Effective oral and written communication of technical energy issues to both technical and non-technical audiences; networking and good interpersonal skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
- Possess the ability to maintain effective working relations both as a team leader and team member;
- Good conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving ability;
- Fluency in English and at least one other major language spoken in the Albertine region
