About US:

Alliance Forum for Development (AFOD)-Uganda is a national NGO, registered with Uganda national NGO board and is mandated to support the government of Uganda in
delivery of adolescent sexual reproductive health (ASRH), maternal and child nutrition (MCN), child protection, creating community resilience in food security, and research both in humanitarian and development programmes.

Job Summary:  Under the supervision of Project Officer, provide direct oversight to the implementation AFOD Uganda OffGrid project in the respective districts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing full-time supervision at the health facility and local community to ensure smooth project implementation and integration of renewable energy with WASH, health, nutrition, food security and livelihood for socioeconomic empowerment and resilience.
  • Support in capacity development and supervision of Off Grid Box Keepers and other project related staff for quality improvement of the project interventions.
  • Ensure good relationship and participation in health facility management and relevant district cluster coordination meetings especially WASH, Nutrition, Health etc
  • Produce technical reports (weekly and monthly) and disseminate to the line supervisor.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of annual/quarterly/monthly work/activity plans, follow up the implementation of plans and ensure timely review/adjust them to achieve committed target.
  • Support in proper record keeping and management of spare part movements • Support in the development of renewable energy project proposals and budgets.
  • Support in routine corrective, preventive inspections, and emergency maintenance and troubleshooting of the OffGrid system and reporting is conducted professionally and reported in time.
  • Support in investigating technical failures in time, prepare and disseminate formal technical reports for action.
  • Ensure that the renewable energy program is integrated and implemented in line with the AFOD 2-P and ICLEM model.
  • Provide technical support in all aspects of the project management cycle in ensuring the integration of Renewable energy with other programs using community led model.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a diploma in any relevant public health, Nutrition, FSL and WASH is required and any complementary certified training in integrated renewable energy is an added advantage.
  • Two years of experience in implementation of projects in above related sectors. Further experience in leading field teams especially in humanitarian contexts will be an added advantage
  • Experience in integrated programming is an advantage
  • Ability to supervise, collect and generate quality and timely reports
  • Ability to work independently, as a team and in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to solve uncommon issues of electrical systems.
  • Willingness and ability to lift heavy materials, climbing ladders and moving about on roofs
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, juggling multiple competing tasks and prioritizing demands
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills including report writing, English fluency (spoken and written).
  • Basic skills in MS Office packages
