About US:
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for people with disability in Uganda (CoRSU) was established in 2006 as a private non-profit, nongovernmental organization and is supported by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children as well as adults with disability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compile and develop Reports, stories and action plans.
- Collect and store electronic photos/pictures and stories of patients.
- Develop a Catalogues of Stories accessible.
- Patient profile drafts and summary donor specific (i.e. Healing Hugs) reports prepared.
- Take and process electronic photos/pictures of patients (photo classification especially children) scheduled for surgery for donor specific (Healing Hugs) reports and fundraising.
- Coordinate projects as assigned.
- Compiling stories and reports as requested.
- Compile articles, interviews and features about CoRSU.
- Update the archive of photographs for reports, publications, etc.
- Leads the compilation of the Annual Report and Newsletters.
- Provide support for public events.
- Contributes in updating and disseminating regularly the CoRSU Program Portfolio.
- Review of the Communication guidelines and the Branding guidelines in coordination with the PA/PR.
- Check out for Grant adverts within the print media/Donors’ websites and communicated to immediate supervisor in order to process applications.
- Assisting the PA-CEO/PR in developing human interesting stories for publication and fundraising.
- Supporting the Programs Management team in preparation of new grant applications.
- Compiling and sending out information packs to potential donors and supporters as requested.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a university degree in a relevant field, preferably Mass Communication
- Qualification in professional photographic courses
- Training in use of observation and Reporting tools
- Grants writing/project proposal writing is an added advantage
- At least two years’ experience in supporting funding proposal writing teams with a proven track record of writing successful grants.
- Excellent communication, presentation and social skills.
- Experience in taking good quality professional pictures
- Good understanding of disability
- 1-2 years’ experience in customer care, marketing and communication
- Knowledge of local languages
- Good computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to use the internet to find relevant funding opportunities
