Associate Prof. Hannington Ssengendo was on 21st June 2013 installed as the new Vice Chancellor of Nkumba university.
His new appointment as Vice Chancellor will run for four years. The campus Times brings you the profile of Prof.Hanningtion Sengendo.
Who is Prof. Hannington Sengendo
Associate Professor Hannington Sengendo was born in 1954. He obtained his PhD in Urban Planning from Nottingham University (UK) in 1993.
In 1995 he introduced the Undergraduate programme of Urban Planning at Makerere University. He says that the program has since then produced many professional Physical Planners now serving in and outside Uganda.
He started teaching Geography in 1986 in the Geography Department at Makerere University. He headed the Geography Department from 1994 to 1998.
From 1998 to 2003, he was Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Makerere University. He then became the Dean of that Faculty in 2003 and served up to 2009.
Prof. Sengendo was a Senator and sat on many Senate and University Committees throughout his stay at Makerere University.
He has been serving as the Deputy Vice Chancellor academic affairs at Nkumba University since 2010. Prof. Sengendo has now taken on the new role of Nkumba University Vice Chancellor.
Because of his expertise in the area of regional development planning and geography, Prof.Sengendo has been a Lead Consultant with the UN–Habitat Participatory Slum Upgrading Project.
Assoc. Prof. Sengendo is also currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director of ECO-Shelter and Environment Consultants and a member of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity – Uganda.
He is a member of the Board of Governors, Kings College Budo where he is also serving as the Chairperson PTA (Parents Teachers Association).
