The award was handed over to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, UTAMU, Prof Jude Lubega by the Chief Guest, The prime Minister of Uganda, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda and the Germany ambassador, Dr. Peter Blomeyer given that Prof Baryamureeba was out of the country at the time.
Speaking on phone from Dakar, Senegal, Prof. Baryamureeba said, “It is both exciting and humbling to be recognized by my peers in the Evaluation field. While it is an honour, it is also a reminder of the uphill task still ahead to build capacity in this field and UTAMU will continue to be at the forefront of this,” he reassured.
Baryamureeba is a recipient of numerous awards among them; the Lifetime Achievement Award in ICT Research and Education awarded by The African Society for ICT (ASICT) in October 2014 in recognition of his immense contribution to the ICT sector in the areas of research and education in African continent and the Golden Jubilee Medal, the highest civilian medal of the Republic of Uganda handed over by HE the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni during celebrations to mark the 51st Independence celebrations held in Rukungiri District on 9th October 2013.
The Dean , School Of Business and Management at UTAMU, Prof. Benon Basheka also made two presentations on Thursday morning and evening during the conference.
“The conference has been both fruitful and a success. We have learnt from each other’s experiences and will continue to be in touch even after the conference is long concluded,” Prof. Benon Basheka said.
UTAMU also showcased the programmes on offer in the tents set up for exhibitors from various organisations and institutions of higher learning in Uganda.
The Uganda Evaluation week kicked off on 9th March 2015 with two-days of pre-conferences ahead of the main conference conducted from 11th -12th March 2015.
The Uganda week is an annual event intended to bring together evaluation experts from all walks of life to share experiences, tackle emerging challenges and device better work practices in the industry.
The conference attracted dignitaries in evaluation both locally and internationally.
