Prof Fabian Nabugomu appointed acting Vice Chancellor, Kyambogo university

Prof Fabian Nabugomu is now the acting Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University. Nabugomu has been serving as the deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration.

The contract of Prof Isaiah Ndiege Omolo who has been servings as the Vice Chancellor expires on 11th January 2014.

Nabugomu’s appointment will commence on January 12th, 2014, a day after the end of Ndiege’s contract.

Ndiege says he spent almost half of his term out of office due to administrative conflicts that led to several strikes at Kyambogo university and he had applied for a renewal of his contract but the University Council rejected his application.  

The University Council chairman Prof. John Okedi said a search committee will be appointed in a period of two weeks to search for a new substantive vice chancellor.

Okedi added that Prof. Ndiege is also eligible to re-apply through this process and be vetted like others who may apply.

Nabugomu has been serving as the deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration.

He served as assistant Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uganda Christian University (UCU) from 2006 and 2012.

Prof Fabian Nabugomu headed the Mathematics Department at Makerere University from 1999  to early 2000
