Prof Benon C Basheka is the New Vice Chancellor of Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU).
His appointment comes after the resignation of the founding Vice Chancellor, Prof Venansius Baryamureeba who has joined politics.
Basheka’s appointment was revealed by the university’s chancellor, Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka while officiating at the inaugural graduation ceremony of UTAMU where 80 graduates were passed out on Saturday 26th September 2015.
He will officially be installed as the 2nd Vice Chancellor of UTAMU on 2nd October 2015.
Profile of Prof Benon C Basheka
Benon C. Basheka (PhD) is a Professor of Public Administration and he has been serving as the Dean of the Business and Management School at Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) in Uganda.
He is also a Visiting Professor at the Tuffloap Graduate School of Leadership at the University of Limpopo in South Africa and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
He was formerly a professor and Head of Higher Degrees at Uganda Management Institute where he coordinated the department’s PhD in Management and Administration.
He is an editor of the Uganda Journal of Management and Public Policy studies. He is also an editor in chief of the Journal of Public Procurement and contract management.
He has extensively published book chapters and journal articles in refereed local and international Journals within his areas of academic competence and specialisations.
He has in his possession two PhDs; one in Public Procurement Governance and Administrative Efficiency from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and another in Educational Administration, Planning and Management from Makerere University-Uganda.
He holds two distinctive Masters Degrees (one in Social Sector Planning and Management and another in Project management).
He also has two Postgraduate Diplomas (in Project planning and Management and the Chartered institute of Purchasing and Supply).
His undergraduate studies saw him earn an upper second class B.A (Political Science and Public Administration) from Makerere University.
