Avolio Industries Limited is an Avocado Oil Plant based in Uganda. The work environment is fast paced & challenging.

Job Summary: The Production Officer leads and directs a team of supervisors and personnel responsible for all aspects of production including the receiving of avocados, storing ripening, sorting and crushing. The Production Officer is expected to understand the concepts of production goals and costs, have a positive attitude, and possess the ability to motivate and direct the production team to achieve Avolio’s standards for accurate, safe, on time, and cost- effective production.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Plan and draw up a production schedule
• Set the quality standards
• Ensure that the production will be cost effective by estimating costs and negotiating and agreeing budgets with managers
• Keenly monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed
• Monitor productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programmes
• Organise the repair of any damaged equipment
• Work closely with different departments, teams and companies, e.g. suppliers, managers
• Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times
• Ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality standards and targets are met
• Work with managers to implement the company’s policies and goals
• Collate and analyse data, putting together production reports for both factory managers and customers
• Supervise and motivate a team of workers
• Review worker performance and identify training needs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Education/Experience:

• Previous working experience in food production or manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s degree in food science and technology or materials science and technology preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to always achieve Avolio’s standards for quality, accuracy, and on time completion of customer orders.
• Management capabilities to directly supervise machine operators and laborer supervisors, with overall supervision of over 60 laborers.
• Ability to lead personnel, handle multiple tasks, achieve production goals, ask questions, offer improvement ideas, and accept new duties as assigned.
• Ability to react professionally to changes in workload.
• Ability to always communicate in an effective and courteous manner with all personnel, suppliers, and others.
• Ability to promote a calm, professional work environment under pressure of time constraints.
• Ability to constantly observe production and take appropriate immediate action when required.
• Ability to pay attention to details and ensure accuracy of all facets of production.
