Job Summary: The Private Banker will proactively promote a relationship based banking offering through a primary point of contact which meets client expectations by providing personalised financial solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide service to a portfolio of existing Private Bank clients
- Establish and build one-on-one relationships with clients in the assigned portfolio by delivering the expected level of service, specifically focusing on a proactive contact or calling strategy and programme.
- Ensure retention of existing clients in the assigned portfolio by strengthening and expanding relationships.
- Interact and build relationships with Business Banking account executives and Corporate and Investment Banking relationship managers in order to provide a seamless solution to the client’s banking requirements.
- Manage the “Cost of Sales” through evaluation of margins, cost of service ad the utilisation of multichannel delivery strategies, such as actively managing client migration onto electronic banking channels.
- Grow sales in the client portfolio
- Acquire new business in line with the Customer Value Proposition segment income specifications, acquisition targets and segment strategy to increase market share.
- Ensure value add to customers while growing bank profitability through cross-selling with a focus on wealth creation and lending opportunities.
- Measure, track and manage sales targets and budgets for the portfolio
- Manage client lending activities
- Structure credit applications effectively, focusing on high quality motivations.
- Advise clients on lending product selection by recommending the products to meet their specific needs.
- Ensure that credit management objectives are met in terms of Limitisation, Number of Reworks,
- Accounts in Refer, Credit Outstanding listings and management of Non-Performing Loans.
- Lead a small team of Transactional Bankers
- Manage a team to ensure effective delivery of objectives for the area.
- Develop a high performing team by embedding the bank’s performance process, regular performance feedback and coaching. Address poor performance.
- Motivate team members and ensure that they receive recognition for work well done.
- When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members.
- Ensure compliance to all banking regulations and legislative requirements
- Ensure complete disclosure to clients in terms of accreditation, service fees, commissions and product attributes.
- Ensure that bank procedures are adhered to and where flexibility needs to be exercised, that the necessary dispensation is obtained and held.
- Adhere to all internal policies and guidelines.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Stanbic Bank Private Banker career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least two years of post-qualification in Financial Markets
- At least four years of branch banking experience with exposure to telling, enquiries, service, foreign exchange and asset management
- A minimum of three years’ exposure in a relationship management role.
- Client Knowledge – Knowledge of the bank’s clients, their names, requirements, history of relationship and key relationship issues.
- Product Knowledge – Knowledge and understanding of the features, benefits and pricing of the products and services on offer to personal banking customers across multiple customer segments.
- Interpreting Financial Statements – The ability to interpret financial reports, measure performance and execute key ratio analyses.
- Loan assessment and approval – assess the financial status of a customer or client to determine if they qualify for a loan based on established parameters and criteria
- Product Related Systems – The understanding of how product applications are captured on systems and the inputs required and outputs received from the systems for customers.
- Banking Process and Procedures – Sound knowledge of the Bank’s laid down policies and procedures as it relates to the processing of customer transactions.
