Police Attempt to Arrest Former Makerere ‘Strike Lord’ on Graduation

Police yesterday tried to arrest Simon Wanyera, former Makerere university chief demonstrator at his graduation day.

Five police officers tried to drag Wanyera out of the graduation tent. However, the noise from other graduands deterred police who returned him to his seat.

They however opted to deploy three more officers clad in civilian attires to guard around the ‘strike lord’.

Wanyera graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education at the Makerere University 69th graduation ceremony.

The graduate told Daily Monitor that the police officers wanted to arrest him for making noise at the ceremony, asserting that he was just happy since the journey has not been easy for him.
