PHOTOS: Kyambogo university has passed out 845 graduates today 6th, June 2014 at the 3rd session of the 10th graduation ceremony.

Graduates were awarded certificates, Diplomas and Degrees in various courses.

By 09:30AM, the graduation mood had not gained momentum as most of the seats for the graduates were still empty.

When the Chancellor constituted the congregation at about 10:05AM, not even half way of the seats were covered.

Most graduates shunned the graduation function.

The low turn up was attributed to the fact that students had already got their academic transcripts and thus saw no need of coming to attend the graduation ceremony.

“Some of us have attended because our parents wanted us to do so and the other is the graduation party issue,” one of the graduates told The Campus Times.

This was a special graduation for graduates who had missed out for various reasons at the previous graduation held in February this year.

“Let us pray for Kyambogo university so that whatever happened never happens again, we should forgive each other because Kyambogo is our own,” a graduate said in reaction to being left out at the graduation held earlier.

While speaking at the function, Prof. Katunguka, the acting Vice Chancellor Kyambogo university revealed that the university has started new courses.

“We shall offer a new PhD course in Food Technology, Masters in Food Technology, Masters in Soil Science, Crop Science among other courses,” Prof. Katunguka said.

He advised graduates to use the skilled knowledge acquired to build the nation and create wealth.

Prof. Ssebufu, Kyambogo university Chancellor encouraged the graduates not to give up even when they fail to get their dream jobs.

“It may take you a while to get a job in the field you have studied, but that is not the end. You can start jobs for yourselves and avoid self pity, it’s a sign of failure,” Prof Ssebufu told the graduates.
