Over 80,000 Students to Sit For UBTEB Exams

A total of 87,800 candidates from 601 examination centres are set to sit for Technical and Vocational work Education Training (TVET) assessment and examination across the country starting today, Monday, November 21.

The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB)’s Executive Secretary, Onesmas Oyesigye said that a total of 35,000 sat for the same examinations in June, adding that this time the number has doubled.

He attributed the increment to modularised TVET assessment which the board started implementing last year. He says the module assessment brings flexibility which allows students to study as they also work.

UBTEB’s Manager of vocational education, jalia Nasaza said that module assessment does not require academic minimum qualifications for one to enroll hence even those who dropped out of school find themselves coming back to get a certificate.

It is against this background that the board has hired extra scouts slated to manage the examinations.
