The 27 year old entered Monte-Carlo on the back of completing the Indian Wells-Miami double for a third time and leaves the Principality with 23 Masters 1000 trophies, drawing level with Roger Federer for second on the titles list.

He has been one of the best performers in the Masters 1000 tournaments winning  11 straight finals and has taking  home silverware at each of the previous six biggest tournaments on the calendar, including the 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and 2015 Australian Open.

The Serb has seen his stock rise drastically with his performances in different tournaments extending his lead as world No.1 to more than 5,000 points over Roger Federer.

The Serb has high hopes of winning the first French Open tittle which starts next month stressing how important it is, he said,

“I think the most important period of the year is coming up right now,” “Obviously Roland Garros and Wimbledon are the priority. that’s where I want to perform my best, but we’ll take it step by step and see how far I can go.”

Djokovic beat nine-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals and completed the job in Sunday’s rain-interrupted final against  Czech  Republic’s Tomas Berdych.
