Nkumba University Marks 30 Years of Academic Excellence and Community Impact

Nkumba University is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary, commemorating three decades of research, academic prowess, and community service since its inception on June 18, 1994.

The university management has organized a series of activities running from July to December 2024 under the theme “30 Years of Transforming Dreams into Knowledge and Skills.”

In its early celebrations, the university launched its digital space and now plans to engage in community outreaches, sports galas, public lectures, fashion shows, the Nkumba @30 Marathon, and the Graduation Ceremony.

Nkumba University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jude Lubega, emphasized the significance of the milestone. “We have a rich history spanning three decades, and we are proud of our achievements.

We call upon everyone to join us in this celebration as we look forward to many more years of transforming dreams into knowledge and skills,” he said.

Founded in 1994, Nkumba University’s history dates back to 1952 when Ssalongo Erisa Kintu, Mzee Charles Kisitu Ffulu, and Mzee Zefania Mpanga established a kindergarten at Ffulu’s home with just twelve pupils.

This initiative grew over the years, evolving from a primary school to a secondary school, then a vocational institute in 1969, and later Nkumba College of Commerce and Advanced Studies in 1974, before becoming a university in 1994.

Throughout its journey, Nkumba University has established itself as a premier institution for high-quality education and research, focusing on cultivating competence, confidence, creativity, and character in academic, professional, and social interactions.
