Nkumba university gets new Vice Chancellor

Prof. Hanningtone Sengendo after his installation as Nkumba university Vice Chancellor

Breaking News: Prof.Hanningtone Sengendo installed 3rd Vice Chancellor, Nkumba University.

Associate Prof. Hannington Ssengendo has been installed the 3rd Vice Chancellor of Nkumba university.

The chairman university council, Mr. Kasolo Kimuli handed over the instruments of power to Prof. Sengendo on 21st June 2013 at the university premises in Entebbe.

Kimuli said Prof. Sengendo’s appointment will run for a period of 4 years starting from June 21st 2013.

Prof. Semgendo replaces Prof. Paul Edward Tebakyagenda Mugambi whose contract ended at the end of last year. Prof. Mugambi took over from the founding Vice Chancellor of Nkumba University, Late Prof. Sentaza William Kajubi in 2008.

Prof. Sengendo has been serving as the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of academic affairs at Nkumba University for the last two years.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Sengendo promised to work towards achieving academic excellence.

 “My efforts will be geared towards developing Nkumba university both locally and internationally so that Nkumba is recognized as a university that is well governed with innovative teaching, learning and research driven with motivated staff”, Prof. Sengendo said.

He added that through a favourable learning environment, the university will be able to produce graduates who can effectively compete in the current job market.

During the same function, Nkumba University also bid farewell to their outgoing 2nd Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Mugambi.

Prof. Gordon Wavamunno, the Chancellor of Nkumba University handed over a car (Toyota Premo) to Prof. Mugambi as a gift for appreciation of his dedicated service to the university.

In attendance were the Vice Chancellors from UCU, Kampala University among other Dons from different institutions.
