Nkumba university students have voted Kemirembe Ronah as their new next Guild President. She beat seven others with 275 votes in the presidential race that lasted three weeks.
However, on hearing the good news of her surprising victory, Kemirembe fainted due to overwhelming joy.
She becomes the third female Guild President at Nkumba university after Asasiira Deborah who was the first female guild president in 2006/2007 and Zalwango Madinah (2nd) in 2013/2014 academic year.
There were eight candidates in the race including two ladies as seen below:
- Kemirembe Ronah – 275 votes
- Nabatanzi Moreen – 204 votes
- Mpuuga Enock – 195 votes
- Jonathan Kirumira – 63 Votes
- Twesigye Nickson – 59 votes
- Starford Walusansa – 26 votes
- Kiptoo Simon – 14 votes
- Mulegyezi Ivan – 5 votes
The winner takes over from Forum for Democratic Change’s Byarugaba Julius.
