Ndejje University FC Qualifies For Uganda Premier League

Ndejje University FC have earned themselves a seat at the men’s table.

Ndejje University Football Club alias ‘the Lions’ has qualified for the Uganda’s top flight football league – Uganda Premier League for the 2018/2019 season on sporting merit.

This comes three weeks after Rwenzori group side, Nyamityobora became the first side to book a place in next season’s league.

Ndejje University who are seeded in the Elgon group earned their seat in the table of men on Sunday evening after settling for a goal-less stalemate away against Kamuli Park FC at Kamuli Municipal Stadium.

The result implied that Ndejje University gunned 40 points at the end of the summit and led the radar a point ahead of second place Paidha Black Angels who lost their final game of the season by 1-0 away to JMC Hippos at the Kakindu Stadium, Jinja.

It now implies that Ndejje University will be the second academic institution in the league joining Kirinya Jinja SSS who have had a fine run in the top flight.

Ndejje University had come closest to joining the top flight league during the 2015/2016 season but the then unknown Onduparaka FC ‘stole’ the show and stormed the Premier League and are still making headlines.

All new entrants to the league will undergo a licensing process from FUFA before sealing their status.

However, the third and last club to be promoted to the Premier League will via for that spot via play offs and the FUFA Competitions department led by Aisha Nalule will soon confirm the dates for the play offs.

Four clubs have qualified for the play offs namely Paidha Black Angels and Kyetume FC from the Elgon Region while the pair of Kabale Sharp FC and Kitara FC will represent the Rwenzori region.

However, Paidha Black Angels have been tipped to claim glory for their resilience just like their fellow Arua out fits, Onduparaka FC.

Meanwhile, the three teams to be relegated from the top flight are yet to be decided with the fight for survival getting tighter but Masavu Fc, Proline FC and Express FC are facing the axe.
