The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has denied allegations going around in media that they had started a probe into Kampala International University (KIU) degrees.
Last week, media reports indicated that NCHE had started investigations into the university for teaching uncredited courses.
According to Dr. Alex Kagume, the Executive Director NCHE, he is not the source of the information attributed to him in the news
“We didn’t say that KIU University degrees were being investigated by the government of Uganda or the National Council for Higher Education. We regret any inconveniences caused by the report” Kagume wrote.
Addressing a press on Friday, Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihingo, KIU Vice Chancellor, adviced the media to stop reporting baseless news.
“Our offices are always open for anyone who may need clarity on any information on the process of admitting students for the courses at this University. Being a newspaper that pretends to carry the truth daily, it should have known how untrue this information was instead of slandering the university” Dr. Mpezamihingo said.(chimpreports)
However, the 2018 NCHE accredited higher education programmes guide allocated quite fewer number of degree courses for KIU than the ones presented on the online KIU programs catalogue that indicate the courses offered.
Over the years, KIU has been in news on allegations of unaccredited degrees although NCHE has , most of the times came out to distance itself from the accusations.
