For all the obvious reasons, graduating from university is a source of fulfilment not only for students but also for their parents.
Anything that comes between such joy is undesirable, and the two parties are frequently trying to eliminate the disappointment of not being able to wear the gown.
A father at Kyambogo University approached administrators in a video obtained by Daily Monitor, questioning why her daughter was unable to sit for her retake as planned.
The dissatisfied mother, identified as Ms Lydia Nandala, lashed out at the head of the department where her daughter belonged, as instructed by the Academic Registrar, who was unable to assist her.
Patience Muyama, a Diploma in Library and Information Science student was supposed to repeat the exam in February this year after failing to graduate in December.
Patience’s paper was later rescheduled for May, allowing her to graduate in December.
However, the department delayed the retake until November of this year, putting her on the verge of missing graduation yet again.
Ms Lydia Nandala is believed to be a teacher at Nabuyonga Primary School in Uganda’s Mbale District. In the video, she is seen questioning the mercilessness of the in-charge.
