Mbarara University of Science and Technology is inviting applications for Bachelor of Nursing and Medicine courses

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following completion programmes offered by Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) beginning August 2015 on paying an application fee of shs.82,750/= for Ugandans or US $ 100 for International students which is none refundable.

BACHELOR OF NURSING SCIENCE (BNC) COMPLETION PROGRAMME (Duration 2 years)

Requirements:
Be either Registered Nurses or Midwives or Comprehensive Nurses or Psychiatric Nurses or Paediatric Nurses.
Be registered or eligible for registration with Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
Have been in clinical practice for at least two years after full registration
Candidates must submit portfolio addressing their achievements of prior learning.  This will be used for the selection process for admission
Proof of Continuous Nursing Education (CNE)
Should have passed science subjects especially Mathematics and Chemistry at ‘O’ level
Sit and pass an entrance examination in Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology on Saturday 18 April 2015.

BACHELOR OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE (BMLC) COMPLETION PROGRAMME (Duration 2 years)

Requirements:
Be holder of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with Allied Professionals’ Council and must have worked for at least two (2) years as Health Laboratory professional
Submit two reference reports one from current employer(s) and the other from the institution where the Diploma training was done
Applicants who meet the above criteria will be required to sit an entrance examination consisting of three written papers in (1) Microbiology, (2) Clinical Chemistry and Histopathology (3) Haematology/Blood Transfusion.
The examinations will be held on Saturday 18 April 2015.

BACHELOR OF MEDICINE AND BACHELOR OF SURGERY (MBChB) (Duration 5 years)

Requirements:
Be registered by the Allied Health Professionals’ Council or the Uganda Nurses and Midwives’ Council
Must have worked in a health facility or organisation for a period of not less than two years
Preference will be given to those with experience of working under primary health care in a rural setting
The candidates who meet the above criteria will be required to sit for an entrance examination in Basic Sciences on Saturday 18 April, 2015.

COURSE FEES FOR BOTH BNC, BMLC & MBChB

The following fees shall apply on admission

	Ugandan students	International students
Registration/Examination	500,000=  p.a	$    500 p.a
Tuition fees	2,688,000=  p.a	$ 4,800  p.a
Guild/Sports	32,000=  p.a	$      50  p.a
NCHE fee	20,000=  p.a	$      50  p.a

Completed applications must be accompanied with photocopies of academic certificates, transcripts plus a passport size photograph.
