Community Health Department with funding from the First Mile Community Health Program is announcing five (5) competitive Community Health Research Grants for Post Graduate (PG) trainees in the Faculty of Medicine (FoM), Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
The award will be based on the following criteria:
1. The Lead/Principal Investigator (PI) must be a Post graduate trainee in FoM, MUST
2. Applicants must have a faculty Research Mentor who should be a faculty from FoM
3. Research proposals under the following thematic areas;
– On-site mentorship for primary health care providers within MUST catchment
– Promoting Healthy Lifestyles: Understanding and Addressing Non-Communicable Diseases at the Community Level
– Improving Maternal and Child Health Outcomes: Community-Level Factors and Interventions
– Building resilient communities: strengthening emergency preparedness for infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and Ebola virus disease (EVD)
4. Multidisciplinary and mixed gender team will be an added advantage
The application package should include the following:
1. Motivation letter of maximum one page addressed to the Chair, Department of Community Health
2. Summary of the proposal (300 words max.)
3. The full proposal (8-Pages Max.)
4. Up-to-date CV of the lead applicant (2-Pages Max.)
5. Recommendation letter (1-page Max.) from your department head OR Faculty Mentor
The maximum award is $ 2000 for each successful proposal for a period of twelve months.
