The Computerised Education Management and Accounting System (CEMAS) project for Ugandan public universities kicked off on Monday 17th November 2014 in a launch ceremony held at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST)
The function was presided over by the Executive Director of the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), Mr. James Saaka; the University’s Dean of Students, Mr. Emmanuel Kyagaba, who represented the Vice Chancellor; the Project Manager, Mr. Godfrey Ssemugooma also the Commissioner Technical and Advisory Services in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and the Vice President of Talisma Corporation, the developer of the system.
The Computerised Education Management and Accounting System will be an intergrated solution to be used across the 8 public universities and self accounting tertiary institutions in Uganda. The project is funded by the Government of Uganda and coordinated by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
Mbarara University of Science and Technology was chosen as a pilot site for the project to be implemented in phases over the 8 institutions.
