Marrying Too Early

By Wilson Mbaziira

Marriage  call it an institution, and St. Paul calls it avocation for only those ready to take the tremendous tasks involved in it. For many it might be a dream long waited for, as for some its the last thing to think about.

I consequently get shocked when i get updates via my face book account and picasa that my former schoolmates got married, kwanjula, kuhingira, have two or more babies yet me am like afresh graduate from high school, and questions like why the hurry keep lingering in my mind.

In the ancient days without social media like twitter and facebook, when a girl clocked 25years and not yet married , would be taken as ‘Eyaddiba’ in our local language meaning love failure.

But thank God for this education.   Our sisters after  graduating think the world has come to nearing without getting a man to marry them off, but why the hurry?,     Can we not committee ourselves into bounds we are not sure of!, imagine the pressure from relatives after school, things like ‘you have grown’ i rebuke them strongly and also, take your time my dear friends before you land in hot soup that will leave  you injured at a very tender age.

Have you wondered why so many claim of broken hearts now days I strongly believe marrying too young is the cause, because we missed those joyous times of doing as we pleased and being forced to grow up and face the responsibilities at a forced time, yes many of us are born as a result of this, I heard that our grand’s at 16 were eligible marriage type .No that can’t happen now ,I bet a huge scandal would erupt if you got a sweet 16 or 17 for marriage.
